Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.  It is a gentle method of light touch, hands-on healing that taps into the “universal life force energy” within us, helping to clear any blockages or stagnant energy. Reiki is not massage, hypnosis or a tool for diagnosing illness. Reiki can help to alleviate stress and promote restful sleep, healing and relaxation.  Reiki promotes balance in all the body’s systems, while treating the whole person – body, mind and spirit.

Reiki is being used in a growing number of hospitals all over the world. Its non-invasive practice is being used as a means of reducing discomfort in childbirth, palliative care for cancer patients, and is especially appreciated in hospice care due to its ability to alleviate pain and anxiety for both patient and family members.

To receive Reiki, most people lie on a table in comfortable clothing.  But, the technique is so adaptable that one can receive Reiki in a chair or bed.  During a Reiki session, most people experience deep relaxation that lasts long after the session ends. Some experience an energetic “release” that may come in the way of strong emotions, or even a physical sensation of warmth in the body. Reiki is appropriate for people in any state of health.  Reiki promotes balance in body, mind and spirit.
