DAY 3: THE POWER OF BEING UPSIDE DOWN

Many of you who know me, or have have practiced with me, know that I LOVE TO BE UPSIDE DOWN!  Practicing inversions is such a powerful part of your practice, and their benefits (emotional, physical, energetic) are  incredible.  So when I got to the mat this morning,  Headstand was just the thing for me.

As I flowed through the beginning of my practice, I found a lot of release in Downward Facing Dog.  Pressing my heels to the ground, one at a time, I could feel every fiber opening and awakening from my ankles to my hips.  (Note: if you’re not ready for a Headstand, Downward Facing Dog can give you many similar benefits – blood flow to the head, improved circulation, etc.).  A few Sun Salutations, backbends, hip openers, then I was up!  Ahhhhh….I love being upside down!

When I came back to the ground, I remembered that when I came to my mat I was already thinking about Om Mani Padme Hum – the mantra of loving-kindness, compassion and divine energy.  That’s where I went in meditation – reciting this beautiful mantra over and over, in the hopes of sending some loving-kindness to the world.

Namaste.

One Comment:

  1. You certainly have and do send loving-kindness out into this world. You have been an inspiration to me and I am sure many others through your enthusiasm and joy for life and your yoga practice. Talk about leade by example! You certainly have helped me embrace yoga and the many benefits both on and off the mat.

    Namaste,
    Reenie

    I just love yoga month!
