I chuckle to myself as I type the title of this entry.  Those who know me well know that I love food…..I mean I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to eat.  I’m usually a pretty healthy eater, but….  Did anyone else overeat this holiday weekend?  Must’ve been the leftover ice cream cake that put me over the top.  🙂

I came to the mat with a bit of a plan in mind – out with the old, if you know what I mean.  Yoga is a great way to help fire-up your digestive system.  Lots of deep belly breathing, Sun Salutations to warm the body, then specific poses to massage the digestive organs.  Poses like Downward Facing Dog, Standing forward bends, Bridge Pose, Shoulderstand are great for improving digestion.  And don’t forget about spinal twists – LOTS of spinal twists!  Twist to the right, then left, holding for as long as is comfortable, and breathing into the belly. 

Now that the holiday weekend has passed, and things are getting back to normal, I’ll look forward to that bowl of fruit and nuts, and be happy there’s no more cake left in the house!
